Eau Claire Bit & Spur Saddle Club

Offering Halter, Showmanship, Western & English disciplines

Welcome to The Eau Claire Bit & Spur Saddle Club website. The Bit & Spur Saddle club has been in existence since the early 1900's. All of Bit & Spurs shows are WSCA and Wisconsin Horse Council Championship show qualifying. Shows are held May - September. Our facility offers a rustic log cabin which serves as our main station where we have our entry stand, food stand and a place to relax. We also offer an 82 stall barn, exercise arena and camper hook ups.

Mission & Vision

Mission: We are dedicated to enriching the Northwest Wisconsin Equestrian community through quality events.

Vision: To promote the development of equine sports for the purpose of social welfare, charitable and educational purposes as well as encouraging national and international amateur athletics.

First Open Show of the Season!

Well, our first open show was very successful! We had very few stalls left in the barn (about six) and there was little parking left....we ended up parking cars and even a trailer on the west side of the arena. We received about eight more memberships to the club as well. There was lots of competition and I want to let everyone know they all did a great job. A special thank you to the members who helped out at various jobs....you helped make the weekend the success that it was! Thank you to all of you.

The high point winners for each day are as follows:
Saturday:
13 and under: Emma Noyes on Miss Final Delight
14-17  Kayla Jo Bauer on Ghiradelli
18-34: Kirsten Schumacher on This Stars A Legend
35-49:Heidi Krenz on A Fine Time To Star
50 and over: Linda Kay Van Huda on A Lovely Artifact

Sunday:
13 and under: Emma Noyes on Miss Final Delight
14-17: Nicole Morley on Cool Cause I'm Grand
18-34: Kirsten Schumacher on This Stars A Legend
35-49: Heidi Krenz on A Fine Time to Star
50 and over: Steve Zantow on Eyed Be Curious

The high point award is $25 Bit and Spur bucks that can be used toward stalls, entries, food stand, etc. If you did not receive your coupon, it will be waiting for you in the entry stand at the next show.

Look for there to be a spreadsheet showing all the high point tallys on every member coming soon in the "Members Only" section of the website. If you haven't signed up yet....get going! It is not hard.

NEW for 2009

NEW!!! Open ride nights for MEMBERS ONLY every Monday starting May 11 through September 21. We will open the gate (yes, that is new too!) at 6pm until 8pm. We will have a porta potty but the clubhouse and barn are closed.

NEW!!! New arena. We are going to have a NEW south arena to use for warm ups. The grounds committee has solicited the donated time/equipment of an excavating company to scrape the sod, remove tree stumps and to work up the ground in the arena and the surrounding area.  If coming to the open ride night, please use this area as much as possible so that the footing will be worked. It will improve with age. At the shows we are pleased that individuals can practice in this area and avoid the grassy areas that are not favorable for horses or people!

NEW!!! Special awards for members at the end of the year. One English belt buckle will be awarded for the winner of the English Challenge class and one Western belt buckle for the winner of the Western Challenge class. You can enter both classes if you wish, but can win only once per show. The English belt buckles will be donated by Sonja Thomsen and the Western belt buckles will be donated by Dr. Beth Smith.
