May 16 - Competitive Mounted Orienteering Clinic
Competitive Mounted Orienteering (CMO) is one of the most challenging and exciting equestrian sports - for the competitive as well as family horse rider! CMO is like a mounted treasure hunt, which tests your horsemanship, your map reading ability, and your compass skills - all while having great fun with your horse!
The object of the sport is to ride out as an individual or a team on a prescribed course and find as many of the hidden Objective Stations as you can and get back in the least amount of time, on either a ten station long or 5 station short course.

Bit and Spur is excited to host a CMO clinic on our trail system for everyone to give this fun sport a try.
We will start with a practice course on foot (bring a hay bag to keep your horse busy!), so you can learn what to do, and get comfortable with the map and compass.
Then we will have a mock competition on horseback and a potluck meal. Please bring a dish to pass.
This event is open to anyone.

$10 fee, sign up in advance.

Saturday, May 16th, 1-5pm, times may vary depending on how many riders come.

May 17 - Competitive Mounted Orienteering Competition
On Sunday, May 17th, Bit and Spur will be hosting a Competitive Mounted Orienteering Competition just down the road
at the Town of Union Conservancy Forest. This trail system is a bit longer than Bit and Spur's trails and it will give everyone that attended the clinic a set of "fresh eyes".
$5 for riders attending a competition for the first time.
$10 for NACMO members.
$15 for riders who have done a prior competition but are not yet members.
Please visit the NACMO website for membership forms, and more.
Bit and Spur does have water, stalls, RV and rough camping available for anyone who would like to attend both the Saturday clinic and the Sunday competition and needs to spend the night.
The Town of Union Conservancy Forest is only 2.5 miles from Bit and Spur.
