Welcome to The Eau Claire Bit & Spur Saddle Club website. The Bit & Spur Saddle club has been in existence since the early 1900's. All of Bit & Spurs shows are WSCA and Wisconsin Horse Council Championship show qualifying. Shows are held May - September. Our facility offers a rustic log cabin which serves as our main station where we have our entry stand, food stand and a place to relax. We also offer an 82 stall barn, exercise arena and camper hook ups.
Linda Van Huda
I am a former two term President of Bit N Spur. I was President before Amy Hayden took over. I show American Quarter Horses on the AQHA and Open circuit. I also breed and raise most of the horses I show. I also hosted and hope to continue putting on a benefit horse show for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Our first show was a huge success. Linda
Ellen Ness
I am Ellen Ness. My husband and I live in Chippewa Falls. I work as a RN Manager for the Hospice Program at Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls.
I have had experience on the board of the state organization for Hospice. I held that position for six years with the last three acting as Secretary. I have been in the ground floor in starting community organizations. I was the past initial co-chair of the Chippewa Valley CARE coalition and remain active with this group. I am currently the chair of the Jackson County Healthcare Workforce Alliance.
My love for horses started when I named my bike “Black Beauty” after the horse in the book. I was finally able to realize my dream about ten years ago when my husband bought me my first horse. I have been going to the Bit and Spur to watch shows and finally three years ago actually got the courage up to participate myself.
My vision for Bit and Spur is that we can make a difference….to encourage young people to be involved with horses….to encourage parents to be involved with their kids and horses….to be a place where education and encouragement can happen for those in the Bit and Spur club and to others in our communities. Lets all work together to make a difference.
Gail Kaufman-Gregory
I have been involved in the horse industry for 12 years and been showing with the Bit n' Spur club for 10. I have just recently started my own boarding and training barn and I really enjoy training and showing horses of all kinds. I also give lessons in western pleasure, English and jumping. I really enjoy being a part of the care and growth between people and their horses. I have a lot of new and fresh ideas that I would love to share with the club in hopes to grow the bond between the club and the public.
Heather Cole
As you know, I am currently a stay-at-home mom of our three children Grace (8), Brooke (5), and Thomas (2 ½). I decided to stay at home full time after Brooke was born. I have an accounting degree and a minor in statistics from Iowa State University. I graduated in 1994 and was employed at Wells Fargo Corporation – Treasury Department in Minneapolis for 9 years as a financial analyst. My past experiences have included due diligence and acquisition activities of investment portfolios of other banks. I also prepared and analyzed the financial earnings including actual, budget, and forecast variances of the investment and trading portfolios.
I feel I am a responsible person and can be relied upon to complete tasks. I am interested in the position to use my accounting skills and be part of a group who shares my interest in horses.
